New Collateral

I did it again. That thing where I wait at the door and stare through the peephole waiting in desperate anticipation for the FedEx man to arrive. Fiiinally he showed up, painfully later than usual, as is most commonly the case when I’m waiting for a package. You may think it sounds dull to be this excited about proof boxes and DVD cases but these are the things that make my heart sing. They’re silk cloth fabrics bound in ribbon. I can’t think of anything more perfect to house the photographs from a wedding day. If I could I would line my walls in Japanese book cloth and tie silk ribbon around every door. In the off chance I baked you something sweet I would wrap the goods in duponi and secure the treasure with a perfect satin bow. I would dress my tables and pillows and future children alike in dresses, scarves, and socks of silk cloth. And I’m only slightly kidding. Then it only makes sense, doesn’t it, that I give my truly lovely clients a product that makes my heart sing? I think it’s only right…

This is something I’m really, truly excited about. I feel passionately about couples seeing their images in print and because of this I just began offering my clients something I like to call The Proof Package. The proof package is a way for a bride and groom to see all of their final wedding day photographs in a custom, handmade silk cloth box. I think the emotional connection to a real, physical picture is far greater than that of an image on a screen. I want couples to see their photos for the first time and relive every single feeling they experienced on their special day. To me, that would be a job well done.

Happy Monday, Michelle

Welcome!

Eeeeek!!!! I wish I could start this post with something more, well, put together. But my insides are truly squealing with joy and I just can't think of anything more fitting to begin with than an eeeeek! of delight. This new blog has been a long time coming and it feels so incredibly wonderful to finally see it. Here. In front of me. Live. On the internet!

Ms. Kristy at Wreckless Photography & Design (formerly, Wreckless Elements) has been the most patient, kind, and forgiving designer I could EVER ask for. To be completely honest I'm the epitome of the client I would dread. I'm the type of person who rarely has any idea what she really wants. I'm the one who stands in front of the Starbucks barista for six minutes before, always, settling on a tall Americano. I'm crippled by indecision and when it finally comes time to make my choice, I choose the most simple and plain item on the menu - every time, without fail. Kristy had the patience of a saint as I revised, re-revised, and then returned to the original draft on every mock blog she designed for me. I'm actually quite impressed she stuck with me through the entire project.

...but I'm so happy she did.

Now, finally, I feel like I'm home when I stop by my blog. It's subtle, simple, and peaceful. I also think it's somewhat lovely.

While my old blog served a most wonderful purpose in my business, it was time to turn a new page. This blog represents everything I hope my photos make you feel - everything they make me feel.

And since a post without pictures is slightly boring here are a few shots from our stay in Georgetown a few weeks back. All shot on Fuji pro 400h film.

I wish I could say Colton was trying to express his inner European fashionista in the above picture. Unfortunately he just failed to pack a pair of pants. ...or a different pair of shoes. Either would have been nice in this situation.

Happy day and really, welcome.

Michelle

A Post for My Father

Dear Dad, I know you're reading this. Actually, I know you've already checked the blog upwards of five times today. Waiting, watching, hoping to see something new. Well today, Dad, this post is just for you. It's a post for you to remember that on this day, as well as every other day of the year, I'm proud to be your daughter.

Thank you for teaching me everything you know. For showing me how to drive a tractor, read a compass, play the harmonica, shoot a gun, change my oil, build a snow cave, catch a fish, ride a horse, downhill ski, cook a turkey, build a fence, and, finally, make Grandma's chicken dumpling soup. I'm especially thankful you taught me how to love people and to give freely with an extra joyful heart.

Happy Father's Day, Pops. I think you're absolutely great.

Love, Your favorite daughter
