A Back to School Feature

I’ve always loved Labor Day weekend. It’s most likely because I was the kid that really loved going to school. And in the town I grew up in school always began the Wednesday after Labor Day. For twelve years I spent my holiday weekend in desperate anticipation of the year that lay ahead. Yesterday, as Colton and I drove past ‘back to school’ signs in the Grocer’s parking lot, he confessed that never in his life was he excited to start the school year. He never begged his mom to go school supply shopping. Never got excited to buy fun groceries for his lunch. Never planned his outfit the night before… And there I sat, stunned at the realization of just how wildly different people we were. I cried a small tear before telling Colton it would be best if our children followed after me and not him.

I joke, Internet. I joke.

And on an entirely different and completely unrelated note, the sweet editor, Ami, at Elizabeth Anne Designs has featured Lindsey & Jeremy’s wedding on her blog today. When I found out Ami wanted to feature this wedding I couldn’t stop smiling. All day. It’s truly an honor and all the credit goes to Lindsey, Jeremy, and their wonderful families for throwing such an amazing party with such stellar vendors. For real. Their day was a dream to shoot.

I hope you’re enjoying this lovely Friday in July! I’m on my way to the Oregon coast with six of my closest girlfriends in the world. We have wine and pajamas and anything other than that is just a minor detail. We’ve got each other. And also my camera. I definitely brought my camera.

The lovely Katelyn James featured the sweeeetest post about me on her blog today and I wanted to give you all (y’all, as Katelyn would say) a chance to read it. If you have a free moment go ahead and stop by her blog. Her and her wonderful southern accent are really just too sweet to miss!

Happy Weekend!

The New News : Vol. IV

It’s that time again. Time for an update on life, love, and all the annoying things I’ve been doing lately…

** I started using : ) smiley faces : ) everywhere and I’m horribly annoyed : ). I always resist these trends for so long and then, inevitably, I give in. : ) : ) : ) I'm so weak.

** I sent an email to the wrong address this week. Killll me! Fortunately the email didn’t contain any inappropriate information or include too many incriminating details. However, it was intended for a friend which meant that exclamation!points!were!in!excess! and words like ‘amazing’ were spelled ‘ahhhhhMAZING!!!’. Even if the content wasn’t too bad, the poor grammar and squealing girl lingo made me feel wildly vulnerable. Let’s not forget about the : ) faces, either…

** My mileage plan is getting a serious boost by all of this summer’s trips to Oregon. I didn’t think it was too over the top until Sunday as my parents dropped me off at the airport, I hugged them goodbye and said see you next week!

** Colton is deploying in February. I know February is long way off, but we just found out which makes it slightly newsworthy in our lives.

** I’m getting a landline in my office. Yo, 1999, go back to where you came from. It turns out living in a canyon isn’t great for cell service. I finally got tired of grabbing the phone, running outside and 100m down the road to stand directly above the sewer drain every time my phone rings (I don’t joke). Coincidently the only spot along our street where I was able to find service was on the curb above the drain. Ew.

** This weekend is the only weekend in July that Colton and I are together. There are five weekends in July, which makes it slightly more painful. I think we’re going to do something magical, like sleep in!

Happy Friday!
