Colton and I went out for sushi tonight and celebrated the end of our dinner per usual, with fortune cookies. My fortune was completely unoriginal and promised something like a lifetime of talent and lots of babies - two things I find hard to believe. Colton's fortune, however, read as follows;
I'm infuriated by the fact that I didn't choose the other cookie and I'll, for obvious reasons, be pre-screening future fortunes.

Lately I've been getting quite a few requests for photo tours of our {temporary} beach house. I have to laugh because anyone who's ever been inside an ocean-side living space will know that beach decor is truly in a design class of its own. Such a class considers nautical themed bathrooms and tiki bar inspired living rooms to be the norm. And the same class requires at least one dozen seashell filled bowls in every bedroom. Regardless, beach houses are able to maintain some completely bizarre sense of beauty. They make the inhabitant feel lucky to be there and are immediately capable of putting any ocean dweller into an instant state of calm {even when porthole windows are in serious excess}.
So today I've put together the key parts of our home - the important things that truly make it a beach house. It's these fabulous items that remind me even in the most ridiculous of decor, I still get to sit on the balcony and watch as dolphins jump from wave to wave.
Can you say your living room has a Volkswagon-surf board-palm tree-guitar lamp? Didn't think so.
The beauty on the left is definitely the treasure of our home. And it's appropriately placed in the kitchen, lest we ever forget what time is.
For the past few months I've been trying to figure out what this guy's initial purpose in life was. Do you think he's supposed to hold a plant? Or maybe he's a special breed of beer koozie?! It's just so hard for me to believe he was really created to carry beach miscellany. Then again, I could be wrong.
On second thought, maybe this is the gem of the house. A palm tree bathroom mirror made from seashells?! I'll take two.

I always read more in the winter. I think it's a natural tendency most of us experience given the appeal of keeping cozy with a soft blanket and a warm fire. My most recently completed piece of literature is Annie Leibovitz At Work and it. was. awesome. The book is an extremely easy read and I think I read its entirety in only a few hours. I've always admired Annie's work and this self-narrated novel allowed me, if only for a day, to catch a small glimpse of her thought process {which in a word is genius}.
A few of my other recent favs include all three books in The Starcatchers series and A Tale of Two Cities {remember this post?!}. You should know I'm somewhat childish and my level of reading may not be up to par with the majority. I wouldn't recommend taking my advice without careful consideration as it's not unusual for me to search the young adult section for new prey.
