Sarah :: 2011 Senior Portraits

She's talented, funny, gorgeous, and humble - four characteristics hard to come by in a high school girl. Sarah agreed to meet me at 6am so we could shoot her senior portrait session and catch the stunning morning light before her nine-o-clock soccer practice. Any person willing to get gussied up prior to the rise of the sun wins major bonus points in my book. Sarah, thank you a million times over for letting me take your pictures. I've been looking forward to your shoot since your mom contacted me back in June and you didn't come close to disappointing me. Quite the opposite, actually. With your natural beauty and contagious smile I could take pictures of you all. day. long. Good luck with soccer...and cross country, and skiing, and track, and all of your A.P. classes. And life - though with the incredible future that lay ahead of you, I know you won't need luck at all.

I think these next four images are my favorite. So beautiful.

Happy Tuesday,

Michelle

Andrew :: 2011 Senior Portraits

For the last hour and a half I've been telling myself how impressive it is that I'm up - being that with jet lag my body feels like it's three hours later than it really is. Don't worry, Internet, I just figured out that I'm actually quite unimpressive. See, when you move from the west coast to the east coast you lose three hours - not gain them. This means that I shouldn't be tired, at all. Not even a little bit. Staying up 'til nine is nothing to be proud of (no offense, dad). I've been busy, though, editing away on Andrew's pictures. Remember when I said cool boys intimidated me? Andrew scored three touchdowns and made roughly a hundred tackles in last weekend's season opener. This makes him the epitome of coolness and may or may not have totally mortified me. How was I supposed to take pictures that reflected the cool that oozed from his veins?! In order to prepare I called Colton from Andrew's driveway and asked for a pep talk (no joke). I can't remember an ounce of what Cole said but somehow he managed to get me out of the car, off the phone, and into Andrew's house. I was tempted to play the Space Jams mix from my high school basketball warm ups, but sadly it never made it to my iPod. Maybe that's for the better...

Then this guy wanted to join us and I couldn't have been happier. No really, I actually don't think I could have been any happier.

Hannah, I know we're friends and all, but you have a very handsome brother.

Happy Thursday!

Phillip :: Central Oregon Seniors

It's been a busy week and in my book busy (usually) is a good thing. For this reason - among others things like living in a place without humidity - it's been a good week. With five senior sessions and a wedding under my belt I'm taking advantage of today's holiday by doing no labor at all.  You know, in honor of Labor Day. I will, however, leave you with the images from Phillip's shoot last week. If I were being honest, I'd tell you that senior boy sessions make me nervous, way nervous. I can't help but think it's the lingering effect of the fact that when I was in high school boys were a foreign species that I didn't understand (or have the nerve to talk to). This was especially the case with the cool boys - boys who were totally handsome and wildly good at sports. It's ironic, then, that all the senior boys I'm shooting this week are totally handsome and talented. Maybe God is giving me a second chance at talking...to the cool boys.

On that note, here is Phillip. And you guessed it, he's totally cool!

Happy Labor Day,

Michelle
